BD-MP1
Professional Blu-Ray Player for Touring and Installation
The BD-MP1 is a robust, single-rackspace multi-media video player for professional applications like permanent installation in the contractor market and touring. Building on the success of the Tascam BD-01U, this high-definition playback device can be controlled via LAN, RS-232C and a wireless remote control and is therefore an ideal component of integrated media systems. Nevertheless, all menu operation can also be controlled with keys on the front panel. Apart from Blu-ray discs, DVD and CD media, the BD-MP1 can play several formats of audio files and still images stored on SD cards or USB flash media.
The BD-MP1 offers eight audio outputs for 7.1 surround sound, a pair of balanced XLR and RCA unbalanced stereo outputs, a coaxial digital audio output for SPDIF, Dolby and DTS signals and an HDMI audio/video output. The analogue and digital output levels can be attenuated up to 40 dB. Other professional features include system control over HDMI (HDMI CEC), NTSC/PAL conversion, defeatable on-screen information for the connected display, a power-on play function, chapter/title/A–B repeat, instant replay and resume after power-on.
Tascam channels the years of experience gained with the DV-D01U and BD-01U predecessors to create a reliable video player for commercial AV, education, house of worship, boardroom and other high-stress installs or live touring.

Playback From a Variety of Media Types
The versatile BD-MP1 can automatically play back content in a wide range of file formats via any of the three front-panel media input slots, including Blu-ray, DVD, CD, USB Flash Memory and SD card. Offering single-source playback for a wide range of media and file formats, the BD-MP1 eliminates the need for discrete audio/video playback devices in an installation. Its extensive range of file formats includes
- video formats like MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 AVC, VC-1, AVCHD and WMV,
- image formats like JPEG, GIF and PNG as well as
- audio formats like LPCM, MP3, AAC and WMA.
Dual USB Memory Ports
Two USB memory ports, one on the front panel and one on the back panel, allow fixed or interchangeable access to USB memory data for playback versatility.
Professional Features for Professional Operation
Power-on Play and Repeat Mode
The unique Power-on Play feature allows the BD-MP1 to start playing desired content immediately on power-up, without having to engage the Play feature first. With Repeat Mode activated, content will automatically start, loop and play continuously until power is turned off.
Panel Lock for Secure Operation
Panel lock, IR and tray lock functions prevent accidental or user-error operation or alteration of pre-set controls in commercial environments, helping ensure consistent and reliable performance in any installation.
Elegant Power-Up Display Sequence
The monitor display can be set to show a black screen during start up rather than the manufacturer’s screen with menu items, creating an elegant and non-distracting visual start-up environment each time the system is turned on.
All the Outputs You Wish For
HDMI Output for Projectors and Screens
A standard HDMI output provides easy, reliable plug-and-play connection to any HDMI-compatible monitor display, projector or television. This output supports HDMI CEC which allows the connected display to be switched on/off in correct order.
Balanced and Unbalanced Outputs
Highlighting its appeal to commercial installation environments, the BD-MP1 offers professional-grade XLR balanced stereo analogue outputs as well as RCA unbalanced stereo outputs for versatility in audio routing, connection and setup.
Coaxial Digital Audio Output
The BD-MP1 provides support for professional-grade digital audio output formats including Dolby, DTS, and others via its rear-panel coaxial output. Playback of two-channel linear PCM is also supported.
7.1 Surround Sound System
For immersive and full, rich audio playback in any commercial installation, separate 7.1 Surround Sound outputs are provided. Use these outputs to feed an appropriate Surround amplifier or separate power amplifiers for larger locations.
Several Control Options
External Remote Control via LAN and RS-232C
Seamless, reliable two-way device status feedback and control is offered for professional installations via RS-232C and Ethernet, enabling the BD-MP1 to be integrated into more sophisticated Audio/Video setups.
Infrared Remote Control
The included IR remote control allows most of the functions and menus to be operated with ease.
Fully Accessible Control Panel
Control and operation of the BD-MP1’s Stop, Play, Pause and Fast Forward functions as well as navigation of the menu is made possible by easily accessible front-panel control buttons which can be locked as desired to avoid inadvertent operation by unauthorised persons.
